- All state libraries provide development and consultation services to all the libraries in the state.

- guide on various state projects for libraries
- Each state library has a website listing services and contact information.
From State Associations - Each state has a state library association.
- The state library associations:
- Hold conference meetings once a year.
- Have a website.
- Want new members.
- The state library trustees (board members) associations offer:
- workshops
- newsletters
- websites
- excellence awards
- Association for Library Trustees & Advocates
- There are two opportunities a year to attend ALTA conferences.
- Programs are provided.
- The networking is helpful.
- An e-mail discussion group is available at any time.
- Is a source for information about:
- advocacy
- providing lists of resources and materials
From Private Consultants - An outside objective person with training and credentials may be consulted.
- Consultants may:
- Advise.
- Facilitate difficult meetings or strategic planning processes.
- Arrange and facilitate focus groups.
- Document focus groups.
- Facilitate workshops.
- Consultants are expensive and are usually worth the expense.
- A state library and the state association maintain a list of consultants and their specialty areas.
